For cleaning before and after initial use, lightly rinse the inside of the tetsukar, and put water for 8 minutes and boil for about 15 minutes. (The first time the hot water may become cloudy, so please repeat about 3 times and use it after the boiling water becomes colorless. Even if it is not used for a long time, please do the same work at the beginning of use. After using, do not leave the hot water remaining inside the tetsukettle intact. Be sure to transfer it to a pot, and leave it empty before drying.
If the water becomes cloudy after it has been rusted, rinse it gently and fill it up to the 8th minutes, then wrap it around a cloth or a teaspoon of green tea, and simmered for about 15 to 20 minutes from the water with care of empty firing. This is a method of stopping chill using the chemical reaction of tannin and iron. Repeat this job 2-3 times for added effect. After that, rinse gently and boil hot water 1-2 times before use.
