For small form factor enthusiasts, the standard SFX power form factor has a great balance of size, power and affordability. However, the standard SFX PSU with a depth of 100mm is limited to a fan size of up to 80mm. The advancements in engineering and components have made modern high-end SFX PSU more silent than ever before, but the ability of 80mm fans to dissipate heat in maximum load conditions while maintaining the satisfying operating properties of high-pitch-sensitive users. With this in mind, SilverStone has released the SFX form factor "extended" variation, SFX-L. With the addition of 30mm depth, the SFX-L power supply has enough room for 120mm fans, so the maximum operation sound is not only stronger and lower (based on slower fan rotations) but also lower pitch (depending on larger fan sizes). The first model to be debuted in SFX-L is a 500W model called SX500-LG and has all the features of top SFX SilverStone PSUs such as 80 PLUS Gold efficiency, modular flexible flat cable, and all capacitors made in Japan. Also comes with an ATX adapter bracket so you can install this PSU in small or larger cases without SFX mounting holes.
