Description
Kurosumi Cutlery Series
It is a product made by a specialty cutlery manufacturer in Tsubame Sanjo using the technology of black oxide color on knives, spoons, and forks.
The cutlery body is made of solid thick stainless steel material with a texture and all matte finish. The overall silhouette is a very timeless basic design.
Black cutlery with black oxide on the surface of the cutlery
The black oxide color does not apply or cover the surface of the product as shown in the paint or plating, but the oxidation coating (inactive coating) on the surface of stainless steel is thickened with a chemical reaction and makes it black with refraction of light.
By controlling this oxidation film to a certain thickness, the stainless steel can be turned black.
By applying this black color coating, the coating is thicker than the oxidized coating on the stainless steel surface and the stainless steel is more resistant to rust.
In addition, since the oxidation film is naturally changed on the surface of the stainless steel, it is also suitable for food hygiene laws.
The chemical changes in the oxidation film is less than 1 μm, so it can be processed with a matte texture such as the metal luster of stainless steel.
The black color in the center is not a black color, but also a black ink. Though we control the thickness of the product, there may be slight variations in color between each product.

TODAI CO., Ltd. is a manufacturer of cutlery and was founded in 1953 in Tsubame City, Niigata Prefecture.
Since then, the city has been making stainless steel cutlery, a major industry and many of the cutlery are made by artisans, which are used in hotels and restaurants. One of the few companies consistently conduct a majority of the cutlery manufacturing process in our own factories.
