Big Ear HS series have been reviewing the basics of antennas at the root to create a handy dipole type antenna. Designed to provide sufficient performance even with the whip antenna part, and the add-on radial increases performance. You can experience amazing transmission distance.
The radial ring and add-on radials are free to install and remove. Normally it operates with the whip antenna part and radial ring, so you can install an add-on radial only when needed.
Handy radios use the radio housing as GND instead of the earthIf the frequency is high, the wavelength is short and the surface of the device itself is less likely to get a good ground even if you install the 1/4 inch whip antenna.
However, recent handy radios have improved to be smaller and have no better ground when frequencies. When you hold the device in hand, the human body will be part of the device, so the area will be increased, but it still does not provide a satisfactory grounding effect.
Unsatisfying grounding effect = antenna is not optimal length [inefficient] = short transmission distance.
Our HS series antennas are handy whip antenna (1/4) + radial (1/4) with a handy dipole antenna (1/2) that provides a good ground and an efficient antenna.

Designed to accommodate variations in propertiesInstallation of an add-on radial will result in a misalignment of the antenna characteristics. HS series are designed to respond to the misalignment and operate with the optimal antenna characteristics at each frequency. |
Free radial installation and removalThe radial ring and add-on radials are free to install and remove. Normally it operates with the whip antenna part and radial ring, so you can install an add-on radial only when needed. Do not roll up or fold, so please hang it down. |
Changeable add-on radialsThe radial ring rotates so you can change the add-on radials out of the way. |
Super soft element flexible radialIt adopts soft elements that are both upright and comfortable and flexible radials that can be rolled up and carried around. Do not roll up or fold when using radial operation, so please hang it down. |
