“Flange nuts” have a wide flange on one end, and act as an integrated non-rotational washer. This works to disperse the pressure of the nut over fixed parts, reducing the chance of the parts taking damage, minimizing looseness resulting from uneven surface tightening.
Flanges may also be serrated to provide locking action. Serration refers to slants made so that nuts won’t rotate in a loosening direction. Due to the serration, this product is not for use with washers or surfaces that cannot be damaged. Serration helps prevent nut vibration, thus improving nut retention capabilities.
