If you blurring the screen directly with your fingers during drawing, the oil on your fingers may appear on the screen and the charcoal will be difficult to ride. Sappitsus are made of paper wrapped and used to tone the screen instead of your fingers. If the sapitus becomes dirty or the shape changes and is difficult to use, just file it back up.
