The Honey Comp is the same as the predecessor Comp Limiter, which makes it simple and easy to use with a grey anodized finish, footprint, and compression control and level control. In addition, Carl Martin has made this Honey Comp three knobs and added Dry volume to allow parallel processing. Parallel Processing is a studio technique that adds a sense of dimension to the guitar by adding a dry signal that replaces those dynamics to a signal that is quite compressed and some dynamics to the guitar. With the Honey Comp you can quickly and efficiently adjust the balance between compression and dry signals to achieve studio quality sound. It also has a special DC/DC converter circuit developed by Carl Martin. This allows the pedal to run with the same sound quality as the "Classic" Compressor Limiter with the internal +-12V needed to maintain the headroom with a regular 9V DC 200mA external power supply.
