Flange Nut is a nut with a wide flange on one end that acts as an integrated non-rotating washer. This disperses the pressure of the nut to the fixed parts, reducing the chance of damage to the parts, and reducing the chance of loosening as a result of uneven tightening surface. Flanges can be serrated to provide locking action. The seration is angled so that the nut does not rotate in the direction of loosening the nut. Due to seration, it cannot be used with washers or on non-scratch surfaces. Seration helps prevent the nut from vibrating and increases the nut retention.
