The handpan is an idio phone class musical instrument. It consists of two semi-shells with a deep aperture that are hollow inside and shaped with a convex lens. The top ("Ding") side has a "musical notes" embedded in the center and 7 or 8 "sound fields" around the center. The bottom ("Gu") is a flat surface with a roll hole in the center and musical notes that can be created when you hit the rim.
