Himeji tanners (craftsmen who turn hide into leather) take Japanese steerhide, tan it twice in full tannin, and let it fully soak in oil and wax to make rich leather.
Because it is thick leather, it takes 1.5 times the time of regular tanning.Therefore, when polished, the oil in the leather comes out and you can see the luster of a gemstone.
With leather that does not show marks on the surface, and a movable pen holder that can be adjusted to fit your pen, from approximately 0.6 in (14 mm) diameter to fine pens.
