Technical Support:
Q: When must the chain be replaced due to wear?
A: Usually, it is changed when elongation rate exceeds 1%.-
Q: In which situation can chain suffer more abrasion wear?
A: If you pedal the bike with too much force applied, the chain may start to slant. If too much oil or dirt gets on the chain, it will increase abrasion wear for missing link, also enlarge missing link holes and reduce chain’s life span.-
Q: What should I pay attention to when installing a new chain?
A: The new generation of chains is linked by riveting, so in case the chain begins to slant, the missing links on both sides are enlarged to increase turning force. These chains cannot be assembled directly, so when they are installed, custom connecting pins use missing links.Older generation chains are flat on both sides, so with a professional chain cutter you can easily thread a hole when installing. Then, apply power in a slanting manner and check if the chain rotates smoothly.-
Q: Can I use chains with different speeds?
A: In theory, chains are compatible with lower speeds, and the width of speeds 8, 9 and 10 is different. Moreover, the gaps of the speed gear are different, and the 9 speed chain can be used with 8 speed gear, but depending on the gearing the gaps may appear, which prevent proper speed change and create undesired noise. Therefore it is not recommended to use it with different speeds (this chain is designed for speed levels 6, 7 and 8, these 3 speeds use chains of the same size).-
Q: When do I check the chain?
A: Please check your chain when it stops rotating smoothly, and speed change becomes slower.-
Q: How do I inspect the chain?
A: 1) Chain gauge.
2) Adjust the chain to the outer ring of the front ring and pull it.If the pulled chain is loose, or if there is abrasion wear against the front ring, you should change the chain or the front ring.-
Q: How long do you check the chain?
A: 1) After riding 310.7 miles (500 km) on a flat road.
2) After riding 93.2 miles (150 km) on a bumpy road.-
Please note: Chain life span depends on the applied power and maintenance method, so try to avoid extreme speed change.
