When shielded cable plug is connected to the jack, you can often hear noise when you turn or touch the plug. One of the reasons may be scratched or smudged, such as the end of the phone plug (TIP) of the shield cable (sleeve) of the shield. When you find cables (plugs, connectors) on audio devices that are often connected, the cables for guitar and other instruments are often plugged in and unplugged so that the plugs may scratch or stain when not connected.
