【ACHILLES / アキレス】
シューズやゴムボートなどの日用生活用品から、住宅資材や車両資材などの産業資材に至るまで、多彩な製品を世界に送り出している「アキレス」。
その起源は、創業者である殿岡利助が1907年に設立した織物の製造販売会社「殿利織物会社」です。利助はゴム製品の製造にも着手し、1945年の終戦と同時に、布靴、総ゴム靴、ゴム引布や合成樹脂製品の製造にも取りかかります。
1947年には「興国化学工業株式会社」を設立し、本店を東京都中央区日本橋に、工場を栃木県足利市に置いて本格的にゴム製品の製造販売を開始しました。
やがてゴム製品の製造が靴事業の発展につながり、「アキレス」の靴はその品質の高さに基づく確かな性能で多くの人から信頼と支持を得ていきます。
近年では左右非対称ソールによるグリップ力で速く走れる子供向けシューズ“瞬足(シュンソク)"が爆発的な大ヒットを生み、社会現象を巻き起こしました。
また、独自のスーパークッションを搭載した大人向け高機能シューズ“アキレスソルボ"も話題を呼び、「アキレス」の人気はさらに高まりを見せています。
「アキレス」が目指す靴づくりのテーマは、“感性と技術の融合"=“機能美の創造"。
