Brand Story

MILLETはフランス初のヒマラヤ登山隊に装備を提供したメーカーです。
1950年、フランス登頂隊は人類初の8,000m峰の登頂を果たしました。その時背負われていたザックを始め、ミレーの評判は瞬く間に世界中に広まる。
1964年、綿より軽く防水性が高いナイロン素材を全般的に使用した初のバックパック、「シェルパ50」を発表。ミレーが独自に開発し、特許を取得した斬新なストラップもナイロン製で、フォームの入ったパッドが付き、縫い目がないのが特徴だった。
1978年、ラインホルト·メスナーが、ミレーのザックとウェアとともに世界初のエベレスト無酸素登頂を成し遂げます。
続く二年後、メスナーはエベレスト無酸素登頂を世界で初めて単独で達成し、さらには8,000m峰14座の山頂に到達した最初の人間となりました。
2009年、アルプス山脈最高峰モンブラン山の登山口であるシャモニーの街で活動する、世界最古と言われる由緒ある山岳ガイド協会、シャモニーガイド協会との提携を開始。協会には250名ものガイドが所属しており、過酷なフィールドでミレーの製品テスト行うなど、ユニークなパートナーシップを組んでいる。
ミレーはこれからも、アルピニズムの歴史と共に、その夢を支えるものづくりを続けていきます。
